Steakholder Foods secures first purchase order from Bondor Foods

September 30, 2024

Steakholder Foods, an alternative protein innovator based in Rehovot, Israel, has announced the receipt of its first purchase order under a new commercial sales agreement with Bondor Foods. This development marks the company’s first revenue stream since its incorporation in 2019 and represents a significant step in the commercialization of its alternative protein premixes.

The order follows the recent signing of a commercial agreement between Steakholder Foods and Bondor Foods, a prominent manufacturer and distributor in the frozen food and institutional markets. Under the terms of the agreement, Steakholder Foods will supply its proprietary alternative protein premixes to be used in Bondor Foods’ new range of white fish and salmon patties. This initial purchase solidifies Steakholder Foods’ entry into the market as it begins generating income from its innovative product offerings.

Arik Kaufman, CEO of Steakholder Foods, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone. "We are extremely excited to announce this first purchase order from Bondor Foods, which represents a major milestone for our company. As forecasted, we have secured the company’s first income in 2024. This not only validates the commercial viability of our innovative products but also initiates our first revenue stream as our products transition into full-scale production."

Kaufman also highlighted the broader ambitions of the company, including plans to continue expanding its commercial footprint by engaging with global manufacturers and distributors within the alternative protein market. Steakholder Foods is also working to develop other revenue streams, including the sale of its 3D-printing production machines, which are designed to help food producers efficiently manufacture alternative protein products that replicate the taste, texture, and appearance of traditional meat and seafood.

Founded in 2019, Steakholder Foods has quickly positioned itself as a key player in the alternative protein sector through the development of proprietary 3D-printing technology and alternative protein premixes. These premixes, made from high-quality ingredients, are formulated to meet the growing demand for sustainable, plant-based alternatives to traditional meat products. By providing food manufacturers with tools to create plant-based products that offer comparable qualities to meat and seafood, the company aims to address the challenges of feeding a growing global population in a sustainable manner.

The company’s product range includes items designed to replicate the textures of beef steaks, white fish, shrimp, and eel. Additionally, Steakholder Foods is exploring future developments in cultivated cell technology, preparing for potential advancements in the food production landscape.

The partnership with Bondor Foods is a notable achievement for Steakholder Foods as it seeks to establish itself in the competitive alternative protein market. By securing its first income from this purchase order, the company has taken a key step toward its goal of scaling up production and expanding its market presence. Both companies anticipate continued collaboration as Bondor Foods incorporates Steakholder’s protein premixes into its product lines, further driving growth in the alternative protein sector.
