PARIMA secures Singapore approval for cultivated chicken, becoming Europe’s first company cleared to market cultivated meat
PARIMA has become the first European company to receive regulatory approval to market a cultivated meat product, marking a breakthrough moment for Europe’s food-tech industry and the global advancement of cultivated foods.
The approval, granted by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), covers PARIMA’s cultivated chicken and follows an extensive scientific and safety review. The SFA’s framework is widely recognized as one of the most advanced regulatory systems for cultivated foods worldwide, combining rigorous food safety standards with openness to innovation.
“This approval is a testament to our approach,” said Nicolas Morin-Forest, CEO of PARIMA. “It validates the safety and robustness of the core foundation of our multi-species platform and strengthens our position to lead the market introduction of high-quality, economically viable cultivated proteins across multiple markets. Our mission remains clear: to develop resource-efficient solutions that broaden access to high-quality, nutritious foods and meet the world’s rising demand for protein.”
Founded through the merger of Gourmey and Vital Meat, PARIMA has built one of the most comprehensive cultivated protein platforms in the world. The Singapore approval represents the first success within the company’s global regulatory pipeline, which now includes eight active filings across Europe, Asia, and North America.
Etienne Duthoit, founding member of Cellular Agriculture Europe and founder of Vital Meat, now part of PARIMA, said the milestone underscores Europe’s growing leadership in food innovation. “This approval is a landmark for European food innovation and the global cultivated foods sector,” he said. “This first approval builds on the dossier and advanced technology developed by Vital Meat before joining forces with Gourmey to form PARIMA, whose combined expertise now underpins one of the most advanced cultivated meat platforms worldwide.”
Singapore has become a global benchmark for food innovation, having established the world’s first regulatory pathway for cultivated foods. The country’s commitment to food security, combined with its vibrant culinary ecosystem, makes it a strategic hub for novel protein launches.
During the approval process, PARIMA worked closely with the SFA to demonstrate the safety, quality, and transparency of its production system. The company said the outcome reflects its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety while advancing next-generation proteins.
The Singapore approval provides PARIMA with a platform to accelerate its commercial strategy across Asia, a region where demand for sustainable and high-quality proteins continues to grow rapidly.
The company has already attracted interest from leading culinary partners and major agrifood groups for its cultivated protein portfolio. It now leads the global cultivated food sector with eight regulatory submissions under review and is on track to achieve a second world-first milestone: approval for both cultivated chicken and cultivated duck.
With this dual-species strategy, PARIMA aims to serve both premium and high-volume markets, combining scientific precision and industrial scalability to deliver consistent, economically viable products.
PARIMA’s production model, built on validated industrial processes, is designed to demonstrate that cultivated foods can be produced safely, efficiently, and at scale. By bridging food science and culinary craftsmanship, the company intends to make cultivated proteins a practical solution for global food security and sustainability.
The Singapore approval not only cements PARIMA’s leadership in the cultivated foods space but also signals a new era for European innovation in global protein production.
