Xylem Lab Solutions secures Gold at Pittcon 2025 for N-Realyzer protein analyzer
Xylem Lab Solutions has been awarded the Gold Pittcon Today Excellence Award at Pittcon 2025 for its North American launch of the N-Realyzer, a protein analyzer developed by German manufacturer C. Gerhardt GmbH & Co. KG. The annual award, presented by Pittcon and Pittcon Today magazine, honors products released since January 2024 that demonstrate significant innovation and value in laboratory instrumentation.
The N-Realyzer employs advanced Dumas combustion technology to deliver rapid and precise total nitrogen and protein measurements across a wide range of sample types. Capable of analyzing up to 100 solid or liquid samples within five hours, the system is designed for high throughput, while maintaining low detection limits – down to 0.003 mg of nitrogen absolute. Its design aims to optimize both safety and user convenience, attributes that likely contributed to the expert panel's recognition of its technical merit.

Michelle Kuzio, North American Product Manager at Xylem Lab Solutions, emphasized the analyzer’s relevance for evolving sectors, particularly those focused on food and alternative protein development. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to helping laboratories meet increasing demands for speed, safety, and sustainability,” said Kuzio. “The N-Realyzer is a leap forward in nitrogen/protein testing – particularly important for food, feed, and emerging alternative protein sectors.”
As the exclusive distributor of the N-Realyzer in North America, Xylem Lab Solutions is responsible for bringing the instrument to laboratories seeking greater efficiency in protein quantification. Outside North America, the product is available through C. Gerhardt’s global distributor network.
The Pittcon Today Excellence Awards are judged by a panel of experts from scientific publishing and academia. Entries are evaluated based on the product's originality, implementation, and potential to advance laboratory science. Winning products are seen as benchmarks of design and utility within the analytical instrumentation sector.
With its blend of analytical precision and operational speed, the N-Realyzer positions itself as a tool for laboratories managing high sample volumes and looking to modernize protein determination workflows. While traditional Kjeldahl methods continue to be widely used, Dumas-based solutions like the N-Realyzer are increasingly favored for their automation potential and environmental safety, given the absence of hazardous chemicals.
Xylem Lab Solutions, headquartered in Yellow Springs, Ohio, has a long-standing presence in the laboratory sector and represents a number of analytical instruments across fields such as life sciences, food safety, and environmental monitoring. The addition of the N-Realyzer to its portfolio reinforces the company’s strategy of supplying tools that improve both performance and sustainability in laboratory operations.
The N-Realyzer is availablenow in North America exclusively through Xylem Lab Solutions and globallythrough C. Gerhardt’s distributor network. For more information, click here
