Teffie launches UK’s first teff-based snack brand, bringing an ancient grain into today’s functional snacking world
Teffie, the UK’s first snack brand built entirely around teff, has officially launched its debut line of soft-baked products, introducing a fiber-forward approach to functional snacking. The range – Chocolate Date, Chocolate Orange, and Cinnamon Sultana – was created to bring one of the world’s smallest yet most nutrient-dense grains into the mainstream, offering a gentle sweetness, slow-release energy, and a clean label free from the top 14 allergens.
The launch marked a significant milestone for founder Jessica Singh, a Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur and TEDx speaker, who established Teffie to elevate fiber as a long-overlooked cornerstone of everyday nutrition. She said nine out of ten people in the UK failed to get enough fiber in their diet, a gap she believed had tangible impacts on health and wellbeing. “We glorify protein, but forget fiber – the true key to energy, mood, and long-term wellbeing,” she said. “Teffie was about changing that story. It was about truly nourishing food that made people feel good.”

Each snack was developed to bridge wellness and indulgence, using teff flour paired with minimally processed ingredients including maple syrup, dark chocolate, coconut oil, cinnamon, and golden sultanas. The soft-baked texture had been designed for satisfying everyday performance without compromise. Every product was free from gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, eggs, refined sugars, seed oils, and artificial sweeteners.
Nutritionally, the snacks claimed to offer more iron than steak, more fiber than a serving of prunes, and all nine essential amino acids — designed for focus, endurance, and everyday functionality rather than a diet fix. Singh said, “Teffie isn’t a diet product. It’s functional pleasure. We’re bringing fiber into the spotlight and proving that what’s good for your gut can still taste delicious. Because when you eat good, you feel good and then do good.”
Teffie was already stocked by Amazon, Soho House, Planet Organic, Healf., and select other national retailers, with further expansion underway through retail and wellness partners.
Teff is Teffie’s star ingredient – a gluten-free, nutrient-rich ancient grain that originates in Ethiopia and Eritrea. It’s the smallest grain in the world yet one of the most powerful, known for its high fiber, iron, and protein content. Teff has fuelled generations of Olympic runners and endurance athletes, and was traditionally eaten as injera, a fermented flatbread that supports gut health and energy balance. Naturally regenerative and planet-friendly, teff represented the next frontier of conscious, functional eating.
