Pothos moved to bring Solein to US consumers with new PRVL protein line
Pothos, the Texas, USA-based nutritional supplement company, has moved to bring Solein to US consumers with a new line of ready-to-mix protein powders planned under its renewed PRVL brand. The products were scheduled for early 2026 and were set to be among the first Solein-powered offerings available to US consumers, following earlier introductions in Singapore.
The company built its reputation around minimalist formulations made from essential, high-quality ingredients. Its forthcoming PRVL products followed the same approach: non-dairy, gluten-free, soy-free protein powders made with Solein as the central protein source. Pothos planned to release a limited quantity in the first quarter of 2026 as it moved toward a broader rollout.
Thomas Miller, Vice President of Operations at Pothos, said the ingredient fit cleanly with the brand’s philosophy. “PRVL is pioneering a new generation of protein, one that proves innovation doesn’t need excess. Every element is intentional; every choice backed by science, designed to meet the growing demand for cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable nutrition. We were very excited to work with Solein, which perfectly fit our philosophy of producing minimalist products free from unnecessary additives, offering a complete amino acid profile and vegan-friendly, non-GMO characteristics,” he said.
Solein, developed by Finland-based Solar Foods, is produced by fermenting a single microbe using carbon dioxide and electricity. The result is a neutral-tasting protein containing a complete amino acid profile along with iron, fiber, and B vitamins. Because the process is independent of agricultural conditions, Solar Foods has described Solein as a versatile ingredient suitable for applications where companies aim to streamline formulations and reduce environmental impact.
Solar Foods has begun commercializing Solein in the USA, initially targeting the Health and Performance nutrition category. The collaboration with Pothos marked one of the company’s earliest US consumer-facing projects as it broadened its commercial footprint.
Troels Nørgaard, Chief Commercial & Product Officer at Solar Foods, said PRVL’s minimalist approach was a natural match. “Solein offered exceptional nutritional values, great taste and minimal environmental impact, setting a new standard for nutritional protein, and we couldn’t wait to see products powered by Solein available for consumers. Solein fit perfectly into clean-label products and Pothos’ minimalist approach featuring only essential, high-quality ingredients,” he said.
Nørgaard added that Pothos had moved quickly from development to pre-launch. “Pothos shared our excitement about Solein and they had been able to develop a product to market really fast. It was a big milestone for us to enter this market segment and the ready-to-mix product category in the USA,” he said.
The PRVL relaunch formed part of a wider update to the company’s identity. Pothos said its mission was to empower individuals to “unlock their full potential” by offering supplements that connected the science and art of nutrition without unnecessary complexity. Integrating Solein into the new product line aligned with that strategy, giving Pothos a way to deliver complete protein without adding ingredient clutter.
Solein’s flexibility has allowed Solar Foods’ partners to use it either as a primary protein source or as a fortifier to strengthen nutritional profiles in existing formulations. The ingredient can also contribute functional qualities in certain applications, making it suitable for brands looking to simplify recipes while maintaining performance.
Solar Foods, founded in Finland in 2017 and listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland, has continued to expand its global activities as interest in air-based and fermentation-derived ingredients grows. Its move into the US market followed years of development, regulatory preparation, and initial product launches in Singapore.
With PRVL’s limited early 2026 release, Pothos has taken a step toward offering US consumers access to Solein-powered products, giving the ingredient some of its first exposure in the country’s health and nutrition category.
