Meatable expands industry ties with key hires and high-profile event engagements
Meatable is reinforcing its commitment to working alongside the meat industry by appointing experienced sector leaders and engaging in prominent international events. The cultivated meat company, based in the Netherlands, aims to foster partnerships with traditional meat producers to support the evolution of a more sustainable protein landscape.

To drive this mission forward, Meatable has made two strategic hires with deep expertise in the meat and food production sectors. Maiko van der Meer has joined the company as Director of Commerce, bringing leadership experience from MOWI, Vion Food Group, 2 Sisters Food Group, and Tyson Foods. Van der Meer, who started on 1 March 2024, will be based in the Netherlands and will focus on integrating Meatable’s offerings within the broader meat industry. Eugene Leong will take on the role of Head of Asia starting 5 May 2025, expanding Meatable’s presence in the rapidly growing Asian market. With more than 25 years of business experience in flavors and food ingredients, Leong has held leadership roles at McCormick and Cargill. He will be based in Singapore, where Meatable has been increasing its focus in response to rising consumer interest in alternative proteins.

The company’s strengthened industry alignment is further highlighted by its participation in major global events focused on food production, sustainability, and innovation. Meatable has been invited to contribute to discussions at Expana Agri-Food Europe, a leading event for food and agriculture innovations, and The Economist Sustainability Week, which addresses sustainability challenges across industries, including food production. The company will also take part in IFFA, the key international trade fair for the meat industry, where future-forward solutions for protein production will be showcased. In addition, Meatable will be featured at the World Expo in Japan, an international exhibition exploring sustainable technologies and the future of food.
These engagements reflect Meatable’s growing recognition as a key player in the evolving protein sector and its collaborative approach with traditional industry stakeholders.
"Meatable is strongly committed to being a partner to the meat industry," commented Jeff Tripician, CEO of Meatable. "Maiko and Eugene are well-positioned to engage in the good work we are doing as collaborators, not competitors, in the meat industry. By leveraging our cutting-edge cultivated meat technology and industry expertise, we are creating real solutions that benefit both businesses and the planet."
Meatable continues to position itself as a company that works with, rather than against, traditional meat producers, providing solutions that align with industry needs while advancing sustainable food production. Through its technology and industry partnerships, the company is aiming to bridge the gap between cultivated meat and conventional protein sources, ensuring that the transition to sustainable food production benefits all players in the value chain.
