Lactalis USA introduces :ratio Pro-Fiber as demand rises for GLP-1 friendly dairy snacks

November 18, 2025

Lactalis USA expanded its presence in the functional dairy category with the launch of :ratio Pro-Fiber, a new dairy snack positioned for consumers following GLP-1 weight management regimens and others seeking higher protein and fiber intake. Announced by Midwest Yogurt, a division of Lactalis USA, the product entered the yogurt aisle as a 'first-of-its-kind' option formulated to deliver protein, fiber, and zero grams of added sugar in a single cup.

Each serving of :ratio Pro-Fiber contained 20g of protein and 10g of fiber, addressing two nutrition priorities that have grown in importance among US shoppers. The company noted that although interest in protein continues to rise, fiber intake remains a significant nutritional gap, with 93% of Americans falling short of recommended daily amounts. By combining both nutrients in one product, Midwest Yogurt positioned the launch as a way to offer convenience, functionality, and flavor without requiring consumers to make trade-offs.

“Consumers today are looking for foods that do more and deliver benefits they really need,” said Kerry DeLaney, CEO of Midwest Yogurt, a division of Lactalis USA. “Whether you’re looking to amp up your protein intake or are part of the growing GLP-1 community looking for convenient, nutrient-rich snacks, :ratio Pro-Fiber offered a convenient way to stay on track.”

The product debuted in four flavors designed to appeal to a broad range of preferences: Vanilla, Blueberry, Lemon Meringue, and Piña Colada. Lactalis described each variety as smooth and creamy, emphasizing that taste remained central to the development process. The company said the nutritional profile of the snack was equivalent to the fiber provided by two and a half cups of cooked oatmeal and three times the protein contained in a single egg, while also delivering calcium and vitamin B12.

Shea Allred, Head of North America Sales at Midwest Yogurt, said retailers had responded positively to the launch. “Protein and fiber are two of the most top of mind nutritional macros for consumers,” Allred said. “With :ratio Pro-Fiber able to deliver on both, we’re seeing lots of excitement from retailers.”

The launch came as functional dairy continued to evolve alongside shifting snack habits and the rapid uptake of GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide. Companies across the category have been introducing products aimed at consumers who are seeking nutrient-dense, portion-controlled foods to support appetite changes associated with these therapies. Midwest Yogurt framed :ratio Pro-Fiber as an option that aligned with these needs while also fitting into broader wellness trends.

Lactalis USA described the new line as an extension of the existing :ratio brand, which has positioned itself as a provider of nutrient-forward snacks with a focus on protein content and carbohydrate management. With the introduction of Pro-Fiber, the company said it aimed to broaden the brand’s functional offerings while maintaining its emphasis on flavor and accessibility.

The product was produced and distributed in the USA by Midwest Yogurt, Inc., an affiliate of Lactalis USA, part of the global Lactalis Group. The company said :ratio Pro-Fiber had been developed to meet demand from consumers seeking simple, ready-to-eat snacks that provide meaningful nutritional value and fit into busy routines.

As functional dairy continues to grow, Midwest Yogurt indicated that the company would monitor how consumers respond to higher-fiber dairy formats. The firm said the GLP-1 consumer base, along with broader interest in protein-rich and fiber-enriched snacks, would remain a priority as the category evolves.
