ENSA rebrands as Plant-Based Foods Europe to reflect industry evolution

February 18, 2025

On 10 February 2025, ENSA, the leading voice of the plant-based foods industry in Europe, officially rebranded as Plant-Based Foods Europe. This transformation marks a significant milestone in the organization’s mission to advocate for sustainable, healthy, and innovative plant-based food solutions across the continent.

The plant-based food sector has experienced remarkable growth in recent decades, driven by increasing consumer awareness, environmental concerns, and a growing demand for healthier diets. ENSA was originally founded in 2003 as the European Natural Soyfood Association, representing soy food producers. In 2012, the organization transitioned into the European Plant-Based Foods Association while retaining the ENSA acronym. However, as plant-based innovation now spans a wide array of food categories, the group has embraced a new identity that better represents its expanding role in the industry.

“This rebranding marks an exciting new era for the plant-based industry in Europe,” said Luis Uribe, President of Plant-Based Foods Europe. “The sector has grown rapidly due to rising demand for sustainable and healthier foods. Our new identity strengthens our mission to support this growth, collaborate with policymakers, and shape the future of plant-based foods in Europe.”

While its name and visual identity have evolved, Plant-Based Foods Europe remains committed to its core mission: positioning plant-based alternatives as an innovative industry that drives sustainability, food security, and healthy diets in Europe. The organization aims to continue raising awareness of plant-based products and their benefits among policymakers and stakeholders.

By advocating for policies that support plant-based food innovation and expanding collaborations with key industry players, Plant-Based Foods Europe seeks to ensure that plant-based alternatives play a central role in the future of European food systems.
