Biosafe acquires Regal’s regulatory consulting business

Biosafe Biological Safety Solutions has agreed to acquire the regulatory consulting business of Dutch consultancy Regal B.V., expanding its capabilities in feed additives, food enzymes and regulatory market access.

The transaction is expected to close during September 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

• Regal founder and Managing Director Ruud Bremmers will support Biosafe during the knowledge transfer process to help ensure continuity for existing clients.

Based in Finland, Biosafe provides regulatory consulting, laboratory testing, bioinformatics and scientific services for regulated products across the food chain.

The acquisition will bring Regal’s regulatory consulting activities into Biosafe, creating a combined offering spanning regulatory strategy and authorization, dossier preparation, laboratory services and bioinformatics.

For Biosafe, the deal also adds more than two decades of experience in European food and feed regulation. Founded in 2000, Netherlands-based Regal specializes in feed additive registration projects and food enzyme dossiers, alongside regulatory strategy and project management.

The companies said continuity would be a priority during the integration, with ongoing projects, regulatory dossiers and client relationships transferred to Biosafe while day-to-day project work continues.

Ruud Bremmers, Founder & Managing Director of Regal, will remain involved during the knowledge transfer process, advising and supporting the Biosafe team as existing projects are handed over.

The acquisition comes as food and feed companies developing novel ingredients increasingly face complex regulatory requirements across multiple markets, making regulatory strategy and scientific evidence an important part of the route from product development to commercialization.
