Re:meat raises €1 million to launch first ‘Re:meatery’ to make cultivated meat more accessible
Re:meat has closed an oversubscribed funding round, raising €1 million (US$1.1 million) from technology investors, family offices, and business angels. The investment will support the company’s efforts to make cultivated meat a more accessible and scalable alternative to traditional meat production.
The funding round was led by impact investor 8+ Ventures, with backing from key industry figures, including Kristofer Forss, Founder of Bastard Burgers; Judith Wolst, Founder of SusTechable; Jon Persson and Erik Rosengren, Co-founders of Söderberg & Partners; and Skåne Ventures. Several other investors from the food, technology, and investment sectors also participated.
“Readiness in times of crisis starts with resilient food systems. By investing in our technology today, we are building a future where nations are better prepared, more self-sufficient, and ready to face whatever geopolitical or climate-related challenges lie ahead,” said Jacob Schaldemose Peterson, CEO of Re:meat. “We’ve assembled the right mix of expertise, but more importantly, the determination to fundamentally transform the way we produce meat.”
Re:meat is developing a modular, brewing-inspired system for cultivated meat production designed for integration into existing food production. The company’s approach aims to ensure that cultivated meat is not only sustainable but also affordable enough for widespread adoption. The new capital will enable Re:meat to establish Scandinavia’s first ‘Re:meatery’—a production facility modeled on a brewery, where a ‘meat master’ will oversee cultivated meat production.
The company is inviting food businesses to sign up for the Re:meatery, positioning it as a strategic investment in future protein supply. With an emphasis on cost-efficiency and scalability, Re:meat’s technology is designed to allow food manufacturers to incorporate cultivated meat into everyday meals without premium pricing.
Re:meat is part of the STING-supported ecosystem and was also awarded the Vinnova grant for deep tech acceleration in the fall of 2024. The grant, recognized for its competitive selection process, provides further validation of Re:meat’s potential to contribute to the cultivated meat sector.
