Mosa Meat hits crowdfunding target in just 24 minutes
Mosa Meat, the cultivated beef pioneer, has launched a crowdfunding campaign that reached its €1.5 million target in just 24 minutes. Within a day, the campaign was overfunded by more than 150%, with over 800 new investors joining the company’s mission. The campaign remains open until 25 February, unless it reaches the maximum funding limit earlier.
“In the past years, thousands of people have asked how they can invest in Mosa Meat. This crowdfunding campaign allows early fans to truly become part of our journey,” enthused Maarten Bosch, CEO of Mosa Meat. “After receiving support from institutional investors, governments, meat producers, and regulators, we are excited to now welcome individual supporters who share our vision.”
The newly raised funds will be used to expedite final R&D ahead of restaurant sales, support marketing efforts for Mosa Meat’s first product launch, and finance production of the first cultivated beef burgers for commercial sale.
This crowdfunding follows a successful €40 million raise from institutional investors in 2024. While the company remains well-funded for its next growth phase, it wanted to offer individual supporters the chance to participate.
“The sheer volume of investment requests we received after news broke that we submitted our regulatory dossier in the European Union was astounding. So, this campaign is about inclusivity—allowing those who support us to help shape the future of food alongside us,” added Bosch.
With regulatory approval processes already underway in the European Union and Singapore, Mosa Meat is actively organizing pre-approval tastings of Mosa Burgers to introduce consumers to cultivated beef. The company remains at the forefront of sustainable food innovation, aiming to reshape the global food system—one bite at a time.
According to an independent, peer-reviewed Life Cycle Assessment, cultivated beef production is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 93%, use 95% less land and 78% less water than industrial meat production, and drastically cut antibiotic use and foodborne illness risks.
By eliminating intensive animal farming impacts, cultivated meat supports re-wilding habitats, regenerative farming, and food security, strengthening Europe’s food system while ensuring a resilient, sustainable supply chain.
