Brevel and CBC Group sign long-term agreement for microalgae-based beverages and dairy alternatives
Brevel has entered into a development and commercialization agreement with The Central Bottling Company (CBC Group), Israel’s largest beverage company. The collaboration will focus on incorporating Brevel’s microalgae-derived protein and oils into functional beverages and dairy alternatives.
As part of the agreement, Brevel will supply CBC Group with key ingredients, including protein extracts, functional oils, and antioxidants, over a 10-year period. These ingredients will support the development of plant-based products that align with shifting consumer preferences.
Brevel’s technology combines light exposure with sugar fermentation in an indoor bioreactor system. This approach allows for large-scale microalgae cultivation without genetic modification. The resulting ingredient is a neutral-tasting, white powder composed of 60–70% protein. It is designed to enhance the nutritional profile and functional properties of plant-based products, including alternatives to meat and dairy.

“This partnership strengthens Brevel’s position in the food technology sector and supports our vision of integrating high-quality microalgae protein into widely consumed products,” commented Yonatan Golan, Brevel’s Co-founder & CEO.
CBC Group, which distributes brands such as Coca-Cola, Carlsberg, and Müller, has also invested in Brevel as part of the company’s latest funding round. The agreement builds on CBC’s ongoing efforts to expand its portfolio of plant-based and functional beverages.
“Our collaboration with Brevel enables us to explore new product categories while addressing evolving consumer preferences,” added Lihi Rothschild, Head of Innovation at CBC Group. “We see significant potential for microalgae-based ingredients in the beverage and dairy alternative sectors.”
Brevel recently launched its first commercial-scale facility in southern Israel. The site, inaugurated in June 2024, has the capacity to produce hundreds of tons of microalgae protein annually, supporting its growth in the plant-based ingredient market.
